via Xamanismo Coletivo (@eliasulrich@hachyderm.io): “One guy in #Sweden built a #searchengine to fight Google, and it works.
Marginalia is an independent search engine with its own crawler and index that deliberately surfaces non-commercial, off-the-beaten-path corners of the web. No AI, no tracking, no cookies, and the whole thing is open source under AGPL. A refreshing antidote to the SEO-optimized sameness of mainstream search results.
via Alexis Jacomy (@jacomyal@vis.social): Just found out about SiteOne Crawler: https://crawler.siteone.io
SiteOne Crawler is a single dependency-free binary that deep-crawls any site and produces an interactive audit report covering SEO, security headers, accessibility, performance, and broken links. It can also mirror a site for offline use, generate sitemaps, or convert pages to clean Markdown / llms.txt for feeding to an LLM. Available as a desktop GUI or a CLI with roughly 200 options, so it slots nicely into a CI/CD quality gate.
via Ethan Sholly (@shollyethan@fosstodon.org): Today I’m launching a project I’ve been working on for several months - a browsable directory of self-hosted software:
Ethan Sholly of the This Week in Self-Hosted newsletter has published his entire database of self-hosted software projects as a browsable directory. You can filter by tags and by the commercial services they replace, and sort by repo stars, recent development activity, or name — with the whole thing refreshed daily from the database he maintains for the newsletter.
via Megan Fox: If anyone was considering Kagi (premium search engine) but was put off the limits on number of searches, they dropped that entirely for most- the $10 tier is now just unlimited searches.
via Liam Bigelow: Pagefind 1.0 is here! ✨
via Nelson Minar 🧚♂️: Found a somewhat usable workaround for searching my own Mastodon posts; download an archive and then use the Meow viewer to search them. There's a bunch of archive viewers, Meow is nice for running in your browser.
