Map

Weather Spark presents historical climate averages for any location on Earth — temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, and daylight — as beautiful year-round charts. Not a forecast tool, but exactly what you want when picking dates for a trip or wondering what a place is actually like in March.

via Natalia Panferova (@natpanferova@mastodon.social): Excited to share that @hishnash and I have just released our new app, Strolly!

Strolly generates fresh looping walking routes near you each day, using on-device pathfinding so your location data never leaves your phone. You can steer it toward areas you like, flag segments to avoid, and get time estimates tuned to walking, jogging, or running — a nice antidote to always taking the same route.

Globetrotter is a beautifully-designed iOS app that plots your photo memories on a world map, complete with route visualization for day trips, 3D landmark collection, and year-in-review summaries. As someone who loves both photography and maps, this looks like a compelling way to revisit travel memories.

via David Bauer (@davidbauer@mastodon.social): Today 10 years ago, I put a little game online: https://www.youdontknowafrica.com/

A fun geography game that challenges you to locate African countries on a map, name them from memory, or identify their flags. A humbling reminder of how little most of us know about the world’s second-largest continent.

via smallcircles (Humane Tech Now): Yes, you can ditch #GoogleMaps now. #OrganicMaps is here. Use it while offline and feel good about a #privacy-respecting app that doesn’t suck you dry of your personal information. Based on #OpenStreetMap this app is gonna blow #Google #Maps out of the water (hopefully ;)
